Thanks for the comment. I don’t think it’s so much the sound as it is the energy the music gives off, it’s similar to hip-hop in that way. It’s the vibe, it gives off the kind of energy that hip-hop does.

Quantic Combo Barbaro album

Really eclectic. Organic is a good word to use. I really don’t hear the hip-hop sound. But, I have been into salsa this last year pretty full on, and so that is what my ear is picking on – plus the Cali Latin rhythms. Alfredo Linares is a true genius in the salsa world.

The musicians are all top class, and they seem to implicitly trust each other. That comes through when you listen to the music.

Some people seem to not be totally sure about some of the vocalists, I will have to listen more before commenting. Linda Morena is a wonderful song.

Psy only lets beats ride too long a few times on Kings of Sleep, most of the time, the effect is as you said, rewarding.

Cool review!

I like the long grooves on Psy’s work; I think they’re quite rewarding, particularly with all the echo effects feeding back and the nicely spacious beats booming away.
